Overview

In this trip, Khongma la (5535 Mtr) is the first and highest pass among three high passes. Your destination in this trip is Everest basecamp via Khongma La pass first than to Gokyo Valley via Chola pass and final pass will be Renjo Pass, which is the lowest pass among three high passes to enter in Thame Valley. Starting from the famous Khumbu Valley, home of the Sherpas, we acclimatize before following the trail taken by many of the great Everest climbers. Everest basecamp trek with three high passes trek is one of the adventurous trips in Everest region. This is the ultimate trek of the Everest region. During this circular trek, it gives us an opportunity to explore amazing views of the highest mountains in the world, glacial lakes, and quiet valley. This trip is suggested for those who are fit and have trekked before in altitude.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ktm Airport , transfer to Hotel. (1400 Mtr/4592 Ft)


   Our airport representative  with name board will come to pick up in airport. The tour starts at our hotel in Kathmandu. There will be a full trek briefing this evening and welcome dinner in typical nepali restaurant with nepali cultural dances.
 

Day 2: Sight seeing in Ktm


    After the breakfast our city tour guide with luxury vehicle will come to pick you up for the city sightseeing of some UNESCO world heritage sites for  half day.After that your free time for leisure and preparation for the trek.( Exchanging the money,shopping, gear check etc)
 

Day 3: Flight to Lukla(2840 Mtr/9315 Ft) and Trek to Phakding(2610 Mtr/8560 Ft)


    We fly to the mountain airstrip of Lukla (2,800m) with beautiful views of Himalayan ranges if the weather permited.and start the first day trek with full of energy and enthusiasm. Heading northwards up the valley of the Dudh Kosi (or 'milk river'). The place where we going to stay tonight is lower than the airport we landed.We descend from the small plateau, down into the forested valley. The trail offers some tantalising views before reaching the small settlement of Phakding (2,652m), where we spend our first night. 
 

Day 4: Trek to Namche(3440 Mtr/11283 Ft)


    Heading towards the Namche,  we follow the Dudh Kosi northwards.Todays walk takes us  along the river through forest with some views of mountains as well until lunch. We cross the river several times by bridges as we pass through the villages of Benkar, Monzo and Jorsale.Jorsale Last point before Namche where we have lunch.There is the check point of Sagaramatha national park,from that point the SNP area begins. A final bridge brings us to the steep climb to Namche. Halfway up this ascent, if weather permited we get the chance to see the summit of Mount  everest hiding behind Lhotse and Nuptse. After steep climb of 2 hours and ascents of 300 mtr climbing brings us to Namche. Namche is the main gateway of mount Everest and it  is the  trading center  of Khumbu.It has weekly market on friday afternoon and saturday Morning but the shops,supermarkets,trekking shops,Bakeries are open for all day and everyday.
 

Day 5: Rest Day in Namche


   Today is rest day and acclimatization day.After breakfast will go for hike 300 Meter  back down again for overnight stay. We climb steeply out of Namche past the airstrip at Shyangboche to the Hilary viewpoint in Khunde height of approx 4100 Mtr,From where most spectacular view of Mount Amadablam,Thamserku,Khangteka etc. can be seen. Descending through forest we come to Khunde, where we have lunch,visit the Khunde Monastery and Edmund Hillary hospital.After lunch, we walk down to Khumjung where  we visit khumjung  Monastery to see the Yeti's Skull and the Hillary school. Khumjung Monastery is one of the oldest monastery of Khumbu, it was badly destroyed by recent earthquake but is now being constructed. Then we will head one towards Hotel Eversest view.about 30 minutes of gradual climb,we reach in Hotel Everest view, from where we have 360 panoromic view of beautiful mountains as Mount Everest,Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse,Amadablam, Thamserku,Kongde etc. Steep descend down to namche takes 1 hour.
 

Day 6: Trek to Tyangboche (3860 Mtr/12660 Ft)


 We start our walk with steep climb up to chorkhang, then straight  until Kyangjuma in steep down hill. Our trails descends down to the deep dudh koshi Gorge to  Phunki Tenga which takes 1.5 hours from Kyangjuma,where there is suspension bridge to cross the Dudh Koshi river , Then we have steep climb  until Tyangboche. Tengboche is the spiritual  and training center for new monks  of the Khumbu .It is surrounded by spectacular mountains, including Kangtega and Thamserku.
 

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche(4410 Mtr/14465 Ft)


   We descend down to Deboche following the trail trough rhododendron  forest. From Deboche trail goes gradually up until suspenson bridge over Imja Khola.Steep climb about 40 minutes brings us at Pangboche, which is highest permanent settlement of Sherpa people in khumbu region.Ascending  along  the  Imja Khola (river) with stunning close view of Mount Amadablam , Mount Lhotse and Nuptse we get to Shomare  for lunch break,from here tree line is over, following the trail all way  on  pastureland  until small bridge over the  river flown from Khumbu glacier. About 40 minutes of steep climb brings us in Dingboche valley.This is the second largest  town with hotels and lodges after Namche, which is properly closes for 2 months in summer.
                                         

Day 8: Rest Day in Dingboche or hike to Ngangkarsang Peak (5081 Mtr/16665 Ft)


   We spend another day in Dingboche for acclimatization. We climb up to Ngangkarsang Peak (5083 Meter) to be adjust well in altitude and great views of Mount Makalu,Cholatse,Taboche,Amadablam and so on.We come down for lunch , today going to be late lunch, so recomanded to carry some snacks bar.After lunch free time to relax,Showers and

Day 9: Trek to Chukkung (4750 Mtr/15580 Ft)


    We ascends the valley gently up  towards chukkung with view of Island Peak,giant mount Lhotse and Nuptse. It takes just 2 hours to get to Chukkung.After the quick lunch we head on chukkung Ri (5545 Meter).From there we can have view of Amphu Labtsa pass, Island peak, Mount shartse and Mount Amadablam.
 

Day 10: Trek to Lobuche (4930 Mtr/16170 Ft)through Khongma La pass(5535 mtr/18155 Ft)


     Today is  quite long day, early breakfast and early leave for Khongma la Pass (5535 Meter ) highest pass among the three high passes. We get out of main valley and  steep climb toward  khongma La. After steep climb of 3 hours we get on top of the Khongma la (pass). We can see the views of Khumbu Glacier, Lobuche east,  Pokalde in  our left side and surrounded by peaks and glaciers in all direction.We descend  down  for 1.5 hours brings us in Khumbu glacier, it takes about 1 hour to cross the rocks and moraine to get to Lobuche. When arriving in lobuche , should not miss the sunset views on Mount Nuptse.
 

Day 11: Trek to Gorakshep(5140 Mtr/16859 Ft) and day trip to Everest basecamp(5365 Mtr/17597 Ft)


      Today is the longest and hardest day of the trip and going to reach one of the important destination. We leave quite early along the Khumbu Glacier in right side. After one hour walk of gradual , we climb steep for 20 Minutes and trail  follows up and down in moraine and some steep sections all the way to Gorakshep (5185 Meter).Where we have quick lunch and with some snakes bar ,enough water , we hit for the basecamp for another 2.5 hours walk to basecamp.Climb onto a moraine of khumbu glacier, Continuing straight ahead up an down walk in 3 hours bring us in Everest basecamp.In Spring season, Everest basecamp can be seen as small tented city,but in rest season, we can rarely see some expedition group to Everest or Lhotse.We spend here for photo click with basecamp rock and ice, enjoying the view of Khumbu Ice fall then we move our steps to Gorakshep.
 

Day 12: To kalapather (5545 Mtr/18188 Ft )and trek to Dzongla(4830 Mtr/15842 Ft)


     We still have another hard day for the best view of Mount everest from Kalapathar ( Means Black Rock ),as we climb steeply quite early with cup of tea and biscuits,after climbing of 2 hours from Gorakshep we reach in the summit of Kalapathar,We spent short time to take pictures of world highest mountains and khumbu glacier,then we return to Gorakshep for breakfast and step towards Lobuche for lunch then continue walk down to Dzongla for the night. Dzongla is just 2.5 hours from Lobuche ,the trails goes like gradual down and straight.This is the last point before chola pass.
 

Day 13: Trek to Dragnag (4700 Mtr/15416 Ft )through Chola pass (5330 Mtr/17482 Ft)


      Today  is another challenging  day to cross over the chola pass , the trial goes gradually up and steep in some section , then we need to  step on snow  and  sloping surface of the glacier . From top to down ,initially it is very steep and should be very careful while one walk. Now the trail is maintained with some safely ropes ,which makes much easier to walk over moraine.After 2.5 hours descend brings us in Dragnag where we spend night.
 

Day 14: Trek to Gokyo (4790 Mtr/15711 Ft )and Gokyo Ri (5360 Mtr/17580 Ft)


Today is an easy and short walk day , just about 2 hours of bit hard walk  crossing over Ngojumba glacier takes us in Gokyo.After lunch we have options to go to Gokyo Ri,but recomanded to save energy for tommorrow, the views and altitude is same as Renjo Pass which we going to to tomorrow. Take rest, have a shower with enjoying the views of beautiful blue lake.
 
      

Day 15: Trek to Lungden (4350 Mtr/14268 Ft) through Renjo Pass (5340 Mtr/17515 Ft)


             We leave quite early for another long day to  pass the Renjo pass, which is the last and best pass for spectacular views  ever in this trip. The views are amazing and incredible  from the top. Different angle of views of Mount everest and many more from here. Descending down  all theway to Lungden where we spend night. There  is the way to Nangpa la pass, which is border  between Nepal and Tibet, in the past time Tibetan and Sherpa people  would have a trade  using this boarder and route

Day 16: Trek to Thame (3820 Mtr/12530 Ft)


Trail follows the bhote koshi river all the way down to Thame. The trail goes like gradually downwards the Thame valley. Thame is the old settlement of shepa people which is the home of famous mount Everest climber Apa Sherpa and Ang Rita Sherpa.
      

Day 17: Trek to Namche (3440 Mtr/11283 Ft)


We descend down to Namche  crossing the small bridge over bhote koshi river. In the right side there is Power station of Khumbu Electricity company , from where the electricity is supplied to Namche, khumjung and Khunde. The trails goes  gradually down passing several villages  and  fir forest we reach to Namche, which is the capital and trading center  of khumbu.
    

Day 18: Trek to Lukla (2840 Mtr/9315 Ft)


     Long day walk before flying back to Kathmandu. it takes about 7 hours to get to Lukla from Namche.We are following the same trail that we took on the way up from Lukla, but the views are completely different.The trail descends steeply downward so should be careful with slow walking. After crossing the suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi,the trails becomes more easy and natural.We follow the trails along the Dudh kosi river with  rhododendrons and pine forest.Upon arrival in Lukla, sharing the happy moments and great experience with staffs,dinner together and happy note with everyone back safe and sound.
 

Day 19: Flight back to Ktm and transfer to Hotel


    Today we have a early breakfast in order to catch the flights,sometimes weather doesn’t permits, should be patient for the waiting. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Kathmandu.
 

Day 20: Rest day and free time for shopping & Relaxing


  Trip is over now, you can take your own time for shoppinp,sightseeing and relaxing.Thamel area is full of shops and restaurants and coffee shops for those who want a more relaxing day.We will have the farewell dinner in typical  Nepali restaurant  with nepali cultural music and dances to celebrate the successful completion of our journey    

Day 21: Departure from Kathmandu


    You will be transfer to Airport as your schedule flight.
